About

Why Perth?

Perth is not an accident — it is the right place for this work.

Built in the early 19th century as a military settlement along the Rideau, it carries one of the richest collections of heritage architecture in Ontario. Stone, timber, and craft are not abstractions here; they are visible on every street.

Yet like many small towns, Perth sits at the edge of renewal — rich in history, but in need of new energy, skills, and stewardship. It offers something increasingly rare: a human scale, a real community, and a landscape where builders can see the direct impact of their work.

Close enough to Ottawa to matter, but distinct enough to think clearly, Perth provides the ideal proving ground for a new kind of institution — one rooted in place, in craft, and in the long arc of building things that last.
